50 Years Experience - All our mechanics are Cytech qualified, Chris the head mechanice to advanced level (road), Dave to advanced level (Mountain Bike).
With over 50 years experience between the 4 mechanics they will be able to solve and advise you on any problems you may have, from the old style 3 speed gears upto and including modern day hydraulic disc set up, suspension set up and 10 speed electronic gearing. We will always get in touch with you should any extra work be needed before carrying out the repair unless advised otherwise.
Shimano Service Centre - M Steel Cycles is also a Shimano Service Centre, and so have access to thousands of original parts to keep your cycle running smoothly.
Mavic Tech Centre – As a Mavic Tech Centre we are also in a prime position to both repair and advise you on which Mavic wheel system will best suit your needs, again both Chris and Dave are Mavic Tech qualified.
3 Free Services - Did you know that with every new bike purchased from M Steel Cycles you get 3 free services in the first year of ownership? As well as the free servicing on your bike we will fit any parts you purchase free while doing the service.
How Do I Get My Bike Serviced By M Steel?
Our workshop is open 6 days a week Monday till Saturday, we carry out all types of servicing / repairs everyday. The first thing to do is to get you bike booked in , this can be done either in person,by telephone 0191 2851251 or by email sales@msteelcycles.co.uk.
The workshop tends to be a hive of activity so advance booking is usually required but we endeavour to work round whichever day is best for the customer , ie if you have a special event, holidays, working hours etc.
Once booked in we will normally require the bike either the evening before or on the morning of the day it is booked in for, we then generally (providing we have any parts required in stock) will get the bike ready for you on that same day. You will receive a call as soon as the bike is ready for pick up (check our opening times).
Prices are as follows for the most popular lines:
- Standard Service – £50 plus any parts – look over all the bike and set up everything correctly and safely
- Deluxe Service – £120 plus any parts – same as standard service except bike is fully stripped down , degreased and reassembled
- Wheel True – Front £8 plus any spokes needed , Rear £9 plus any spokes needed
- Wheel Building – £20 labour per wheel
- Punctures – £10 includes new tube and fitting
Wheelbuilding
We also have a fully equipped wheel area, from a basic truing of a wheel, replace a broken spoke(s), to a full rebuild of any type of wheel you can think of, we have even recently trued up 4 chrome spoked wheels off an Austin Healey 3000!
We can also build any wheel combination you require using the latest components, Mavic , DT rims, Hope, Shimano hubs . We only use the best quality stainless steel spokes from DT, and they can be built in any pattern you like, please ask for advice.
Suspension Servicing
We will also undertake any suspension servicing you require, most of the work is done out of store, rather than keep the thousands of spares needed to fix the many different suspension systems out there, we send the forks/shocks off to the official service agents for that product (Mojo, SRAM and TF Tuning are the main agents we use). The turnaround time is usually 5-7 working days for this service, and we will get a price for you before any work is carried out and all work comes with a full breakdown of work carried out.
Repairs
M. Steel Cycles is a certified Shimano Service Centre with two full time Advanced Cytech qualified mechanics. We offer a full range of repairs from a full strip down service, to a `simple` puncture. We have a fast next day service on all cycles*. Wheel repairs and builds also available. We pride ourselves on our quality of work and customer satisfaction.
